The International Scientific Journal "Sustainable Development of Mountain Territories" was founded in 2007.
Founder – Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education "North Caucasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (State Technological University)".
Journal is published in accordance with the applicable law of the mass media of the Russian Federation, the Charter NCIMM (STU), the Regulation of the International Scientific Journal "Sustainable Development of Mountain Territories" and the Charter of the Journal "Sustainable Development of Mountain Territories".
Journal is registered as mass media of the Federal Service for Supervision of Legislation in Mass Communications and Cultural Heritage Protection (Registration Certificate PI № FS 77-27831 dated April 19, 2007).
Journal has the International Standard Serial Number (ISSN 1998-4502).
Journal is published in a hard-copy form with periodicity 4 issues per year and has an electronic version, which is identical to the content of the hard-copy form and appears on the Internet after the release of the hard-copy version of the publication.
The first issue came out in 2009. During the period from 2009 to 2019 forty issues were published. The authors of the journal publications were a prominent Russian and foreign scientists and experts. The subjects covered in the journal publications comprised important aspects of sustainable development of mountain territories.
By a decision of the Presidium of the Higher Attestation Commission of the Russian Federation of September 24, 2010, the international scientific journal Sustainable Development of Mountain Territories was included in the List of Russian peer-reviewed scientific journals in which the main scientific results of dissertations for the degree of doctor and candidate of science should be published.
By a decision of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation of July 5, 2014, the international scientific journal Sustainable Development of Mountain Territories, after re-certification of Russian journals, was again included in the List of Russian peer-reviewed scientific journals in which the main scientific results of dissertations for scientific degrees should be published Doctors and candidates of sciences.
In accordance with the conclusion of the Presidium of the Higher Attestation Commission of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation dated March 26, 2019, the international journal Sustainable Development of Mountain Territories was re-certified as a peer-reviewed scientific publication, in which the main scientific results of dissertations for the degree of Doctor of Science should be published Sciences, formed by groups of scientific specialties.
Since 2018, the journal Sustainable Development of Mountain Territories has been included in the Scopus international citation database and has a quality certificate confirming its compliance with international standards and information system criteria. The journal is registered by the International Standard Serial Numbering Center for International Periodicals (ISSN 2499-975X).
In accordance with the requirements adopted in the international citation system Scopus, materials for publication in the journal Sustainable Development of Mountain Territories are accepted exclusively on issues of sustainable development of mountain territories.
The materials of the journal website are formed according to the materials of the largest international scientific literature publishers "Elsevier".
Aiming to upgrade the international status, the journal of NCIMM (STU) was included to the international association "PILA", and each article is assigned a digital identifier DOI. The authors are not charged with the additional fee for the assignment of a DOI index.
