The most important direction of electric power industry development of the Russian Federation is the exploitation of renewable sources of electricity. In conditions of mountainous territories with high altitude differences and the presence of a number of rivers with a relatively small water flow optimal and efficient is the construction of high-pressure small hydropower plants up to 30 MW.
