The article presents a history retrospective of one toponym introduction in North Ossetia-Alania, based on folklore and archeological data.
The article considers the drastic consequences of the Crimean War of 1853-1856 for the Russian Empire. It is noted that in the first place some terms of the Paris Peace Treaty of 1856 attacked the defense capability of the Russian Empire on its southern borders. The author, based on a wide range of source material, provides examples of demonstrative actions conducted on the Black Sea coast of the Caucasus by England and Turkey with the only purpose to prevent the final approval of Russia in the Western Caucasus.
This article discusses the artistic activity of the architecture academician A.N. Pomerantsev. For the first time highlights the sacred buildings, made in Russian Revival style. Identifies the specific medieval prototypes and defines the author preferences. Analyzing the provincial and metropolitan architectural sites revealed features of the author’s method: the architect followed the principles of eclecticism, drawing inspiration in the architecture of the XVII century (Moscow and Yaroslavl flamboyant style). The article also identifies the author’s interest in innovative engineering solutions and influence of Italian Renaissance architecture on his works.

The influence of his work on the further development of the architecture of Nizhny Novgorod. Analyzes the creative method and stylistic borrowings in the works of AN Pomerantseva . The author reveals, on the one hand, their medieval prototypes , on the other -novatorskie features caused by materials and structures that are typical of the late XIX century.
