ANNOTATION. Brief summary of the article.

ABSTRACT. Purpose, methods, results (discussion), conclusions (corollary). The abstract is a brief, yet informative content of scientific publications. The abstract should be 250 to 300 words and fully correspond to the content of the work. Summary of original studies should be structured as given above: purpose, methods, results, conclusions (look here).

KEY WORDS. The subtitle "Keywords" is placed under annotation, and after 5 to 7 key words reflecting the major research challenges and promoting indexing in search systems. Keywords should be pair-matched in Russian and English languages (look here). It is recommended to search for key words in the databases PubMed, GeoRef, AGRIS.

English version of the abstract should completely comply with the Russian one within the meaning and structurally, and be competent from the point of view of the English language.

Example of the abstract and key words in English:

Abstract. Southern Baikal region is one of the areas in Russia prone to mudflow hazard. High natural potential for mudflow formation in the southern Baikal region is determined by a combination of the following factors: relatively high disintegration of bedrock and their physico-mechanical and physico-chemical properties in relation to the weathering agents, sufficient volume of friable fragmental material, considerably steep thalwegs, heat and moisture conditions, as well as high seismotectonic activity of the area. Geologically the area is marked by the igneous and metamorphic rocks including granitoids, gneisses, schists, marbles, basalts, sandstones, clays, which have various resistance to weathering agents and particle size distribution of the weathering products. Alluvial-proluvial sediments are one of the main sources of the solid mudflow phase formation, accounting for up to 50–80% of their total volume. Geomorphological conditions of the southern shore of Lake Baikal contribute to landslide development due to intensive erosional dissection of the northern slope of the Khamar-Daban ridge, with in average one river and two mudflow hazardous blind creeks per every 3 km of the shore. Large thalweg angles are conditioned by relative elevation of the estuaries over the river sources. Among climatic factors determining mudflow formation, precipitation is a predominant one. Regional proportion of rainfall per year is 70% and more. For instance, in 1934 and 1971 their total exceeded the mean yearly rate by almost 20%. The high seismotectonic activity of modern geodynamics of the Baikal Rift Zone, including the south of the Baikal region, stimulates development of mudflow processes. Among the measures aimed at reducing the mudflow hazard marked technical, ameliorative, organizational and economic. The best results are obtained with a combination of protective measures, in particular technical and ameliorative. Their implementation will minimize the economic and social damage, and the elimination of debris flow and flood risk in the developed areas of the south of the Baikal region.

Keywords: seismicity, tectonics, geological hazards, mudflows, floods, landslides.

ІІ.   THE MAIN TEXT OF THE ARTICLE

The manuscripts of the original assessments are presented according to the generally accepted international scheme (IMRAD format - Introduction, Methods, Results and Discussion) and article should reflect the following headings :

Introduction - outlines the current state of the problem and the actuality of the assessment. it is necessary to give a critical review of literature related to the issue. This review differentiates open problems. The clearly-defined goals and objectives must be determined, explaining the further assessment in a particular area.

The material and the methods of assessment - there should be given a full description of the article for its possible reproduction. previously published methods should be accompanied by a reference note: the author describes only referring to the topic changes.

The results and discussion- the results should be clear and laconic. The author should give convincing explanation of the results and show their significance so that the reader can not only independently estimate the mythological advantages and disadvantages of this assessment but also replicate it if necessary.

The conclusion summarizes the main results of the research, the author gives recommendations and guidance on possible areas of further research.

The précis articles should contain Introduction and according to PRISMA the strategy of literature search (http://www.prisma - statement.org).

Formulas should be created with the help of built-in formulas editor Microsoft Equation with the numeration in parenthesis - (2),they are leveled align right, the full form of all symbols (letters) in formulas are given in accordance with the formula. Formulas should be accurately printed on the computer. In order not to have misunderstandings and mistakes the editor office advices the authors to use latin, greek and other languages letters (not Russian): when printing formula it is necessary to follow sizes. It must be taken into account that in the process of typography formulas should be placed on the half of the page (8 sm). Large formulas have to be divide into separate fragments. The formula fragments should be possibly independent (while using formula editor each line is a separate object). The numeration and signs of punctuation should be put as a general text separately from formulas if possible. Only the formulas that have references in the text have to be numerated.

Formulas must be printed only in Times New Roman or Symbol. The authors can’t use built-in formula editor Word, The version of 2010 and later, as it uses substandard mathematic print. Use only the simple set of mathematic expressions in the line or MSEquation. To create multilevel formulas use formula editors MathType or MSEquation.

The names of variables : the latin letters are inclined: Uref. The names of functions: straight line latin letters: pi=di/dt. Greek letters are always straight line. Use the minus sign «-». Remember that formulas are included into the text with the use of punctuation marks, for example, the formula following this text should ended in dot, because it will be the end of the sentence.

Below the formula editor MSEquation settings are represented, they should be used for all formulas in the article:

Example of formulas:

Tables and pictures

Tables, pictures, photographs should be put inside the text and have continuous page numbering through the article (not through the chapters) and their own titles. pictures and photos captions and the text inside the tables are given in Russian (11 point size, italic). The numeration of symbols on the pictures is given in the right order of numbers in a clockwise manner or top down. all pictures must be made by computers according to the following rules: the width of the picture is no more that 8 sm, the lines width: base lines - 1pt, help lines - 0,5 pt, for designation in the picture field Times New Roman (9pt) should be used. The pictures with many details(difficult schemes, diagrams) are placed on the whole width of the page(16,5 sm). Vector drawings are in separate document files. The photos must be contrastive. Scanned files are recorded into files of TIFF, JPEG format.

First you should mention the picture or table, and then give picture or table. when mentioning or giving reference to the picture or table in the text use abbreviations: Fig1. or Table 1.Avoid putting them in the middle of the column. Wide pictures and tables may be placed in the width of two columns of the text. The captions should be centrally under the pictures. The titles of the tables are placed centrally from above.

Example of tables:

The names and contents of figures and tables (row and columns) should be given as in both Russian and English languages. The definition of pictures should be not lower than 300 dots per inch (from 300to 600 dpi). We pay attention that the picture made with the help of screen shot (the button "Prt Scr") has a definition less than 300 dpi.

For all captions on the pictures use Times New Roman. All designations, symbols, indexes and the text on the picture should be readable (text size is not less than 6 pt). As a separating char all number values on the diagrams should use decimal point character not comma. after giving the characteristic put aside along the axis the author writes the dimension separated by commas, if the diagram is with the numerical values of "W,A".

The author must not change the picture proportion that is to stretch it only in vertical or horizontal directions.

All pictures should be clear. The author can use color pictures but washed out, stretched pictures are not be taken.

It is forbidden to use tables for putting in the pictures.

It is desirable to specify the sources with a DOI In the cited literature.
For graphic materials:
All graphic materials (images, photos, etc.) in TIFF and JPEG, containing text, which cannot be directly edited in Microsoft Word, should be translated by the author(s) into English independently.

The style of references:

In the article the number of a reference is enclosed in square brackets and placed in the line with the text. You can give the names of the authors but the numbers of the references must always be present. The reference numbers should be in the reference listen the order in which they appear in the text.

Example: «…as s hown [3;6] or «Barnaby and Jones ]8] obtained a different result…»

References in the Russian version of the article are given in the original language. All references should be made uniformly: only a dot (full stop) without dashes between the parts of description. Symbols № and & are not used; for a number you should use Latin letter N with no full stop after it, double slash separates the description of a larger document, which refers to the fragment. you shouldn't put dot (full stop) before the double slash // but spaces before and after the double slash // are required.

2. The English (REFERENCES) - in accordance with Harvard standard :

References in English are primarily necessary to track cited authors and magazines. The correct description of the sources used in reference lists is the guarantee that the quoted publication will be taken into account when assessing the scientific work of its authors, and thus the organization, region and country. Quoting a magazine determines its scientific level, the credibility, the effectiveness of its Editorial Board, etc.

The names of sources and works are specified in full, without abbreviations. The titles of monographs, collections of articles and conferences are transliterated into Latin alphabet, followed by an English translation in brackets . The website http://www.translit.ru/can be used for free transliteration of Russian text in Latin letters (Version BSI).
